Ahead of the implementation of both the Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Act 2024 and the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024, we have updated our key messages to reflect these significant changes.
CYCJ works tirelessly across our practice, research, participation and policy teams to ensure all under 18s are treated as children, can exercise their rights and participate fully in the care and justice systems. We recognise that children and young people in conflict with the law are likely to have experienced trauma and adversity and that responding to them with alternatives to the court system produces far better outcomes.
